EMG Test

Patients who have numbness, tingling, pain, weakness, and/or muscle cramping, undergo Nerve Conduction Studies (NCV) and/or Electromyography (EMG) tests to trace the distribution of Electrical signals along the nerves in order to diagnose the painful condition.

This is done by applying small electrical shocks to the nerve and recording how the nerve responds and functions.

These shocks cause a quick, mild tingling feeling.
The doctor may test several nerves.
